The prefect Investiture Ceremony of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya was held on 17th of April 2023 under the patronage of madam principal , R.A.M.R .Herath in the school premises.About 100 senior and junior prefects were appointed for the academic year 2023.
The champion National Youth Rapid Chess Championship 2023
The champion National Youth Rapid Chess Championship 2023 organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka on 22nd April 2023 at Shasthrananda Vidyalaya – Dehiwala.W.M. Onali Mihirini Bandara won Championship under age 8 category.
The Inter-House Sportsmeet of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo 07 was grandly held on 21.04.2023 at the school playground. Mr. Upali Amaratunga, the Director of Sports, Health and Physical Education of the Ministry of Education, graced the event as the chief guest and Mrs. Kusalani Wickramaratne, the Deputy Director of Physical Education of the Colombo Education Region, attended as the guest of honour. Representing the houses of Hansa, Kokila, Mayura and Paravi, the girls displayed their sporting abilities well.
A New Postage Stamp Commemorating The School’s 50th Anniversary
A new postage stamp commemorating the school’s 50th anniversary has been produced, capturing the essence of the school’s rich history and legacy. The stamp was released at a special ceremony attended by alumni, teachers, staff, and students to honor this historic occasion.
Vortex’22, the second installment of the Inter School Astronomical Quiz Competition was held as a physical event for the first time on the 26th of March from 8.00 am to 5.30 pm.
The top 15 teams who got the highest marks for the first round out of 40 teams were chosen for this round.
The competition consisted of a quiz round, task round and a lecture.
Nalanda College- Team A won the championship of the competition while the Team A of Royal College was the 1st Runners Up and Ananda College Team A was the 2nd Runners Up.
The Assistant Principal Madam Anoja Gamage, The Teacher in Charge of All Societies Madam Meththa Rodrigo and The Teacher in Charge of the Astronomical Society Mr. Prasanga Mahawatta distributed the trophies and medals.
The ceremony of welcoming the new students to the school for the year 2023, was held on 28/03/2023 in a grand manner with the participation of the Principal, the Assistant principal of the primary section, the teachers of the primary section and the parents of the new students. The event became more magnificent with the dancing and singing items done by the Grade 2 students
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya,Colombo, the art exhibition “Ru Bhashana 2023” organized by the School Art Association, was held at the J.D.A. Perera Art Gallery, Colombo 7 on March 27, 28, 29. This exhibition, which showcases the talents of the students, was done under the supervision of Mrs. Sajeevani Hewawitharana, the Art subject teacher of the school.
Sirimavo School held its annual Walk event on May 25, 2023, which was a resounding success. Students, teachers, and school old girls came together to participate in the walk, which is an event aimed at promoting the 50th anniversary of the school
The event kicked off at 8:00 am. The walk route was carefully planned, taking participants through neighboring areas of the school while ensuring everyone’s safety. The walk route was filled with people and at the end of the walk, participants were treated to a drink. There were also games and activities for students to enjoy.
