New PA System Handed Over to School with Support from Sri Lanka Air Force
Today marked a momentous occasion for the school as the newly installed Public Address (PA) system was officially handed over, symbolizing the successful completion of this much-anticipated project. The manpower for the project was generously provided by the Sri Lanka Air Force, showcasing their technical expertise and commitment to community development.
The handing-over ceremony was graced by Ms. Enoka Rajapaksha, the wife of Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksha and a distinguished alumna of the school. Joining her were Air Force officials who played a vital role in the project. The PA system was officially entrusted to the school’s esteemed Principal, Dr. Sumedha Jayaweera, during the event.
The initiative reflects the visionary leadership of Dr. Jayaweera, whose bold decision to involve the Air Force’s technical team ensured the project’s seamless execution. The school community extends its deepest gratitude to Dr. Jayaweera and the Sri Lanka Air Force for their invaluable contribution to enhancing the school’s facilities.
This collaboration stands as a testament to the power of partnerships in driving progress and marks a new chapter in the school’s journey toward excellence.
The inaugural official meeting was conducted with Mr. Abbayan Vinodhan, the President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Central.
We are pleased to announce that the first official meeting was held with the President of the Rotary Club of Colombo Central, Mr. Abbayan Vinodhan, to charter the Interact Club of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya for the year 2024. This important initiative was spearheaded by the Principal, Dr. (Mrs.) Sumedha Jayaweera, with the dedicated support of teachers, Ms. Dileesha Atapattu and Mr. Sujith de Zoysa.
The students of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya are excited to take their first step into the Interact journey, which promises to benefit not only the students but also the wider community. We look forward to fostering leadership, service, and personal growth through this valuable partnership with Rotary.

Inventor: Sugame Lavanya Abeysiri Gunawardena Successfully finished making the working model of the invention Automated Rain & Wind Protective Device. This invention won 1st place in the Young Inventor Entrepreneur Lead Development Competition 2022, organized by the Sri Lanka Inventor’s Commission.
A team from the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission headed by the Director General of the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission visited and inspected the device and produced a video about this invention and published it in the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission You Tube Channel. Further, SLIC has selected this invention for the Techno 2024 International Engineering and Technology exhibition organized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka, jointly with Sri Lanka Inventor’s Commission, which will be held in October 2024 at BMICH.
